Citizens Committee For New York City Raises $630,000 at Annual All-In For New York City Cocktail Reception
Citizens Committee for New York City (CitizensNYC), a micro-funding organization dedicated to empowering everyday New Yorkers to strengthen their neighborhoods, proudly announces the success of its “All In For New York City Fall Cocktail” event. This year’s celebration united the financial restructuring community to raise over $630,000, providing crucial resources to fuel grassroots initiatives across the five boroughs.
Introducing Collaborative Impact Grants
This summer, CitizensNYC launched an exciting new program, the Collaborative Impact Grant, open exclusively to our 2023 grantee partners. This pilot program provides one $10,000 grant per borough to groups of three grantees, enabling them to develop and implement group projects that foster community building, enhance local leadership, and strengthen partnerships. These projects were developed by our grantees, in partnership with one another, and with our support.
Building A Foundation: All In For New York Honorees Jeffrey D. Saferstein and Brian J. Fox
CitizensNYC's signature fall fundraising event, the All In for NYC Cocktail Reception, will shine a light on two exceptional individuals whose dedication to New York City runs deep: Jeffrey D. Saferstein and Brian J. Fox. As we celebrate their professional leadership and accomplishments, we also recognize their unwavering commitment to fostering vibrant communities across the five boroughs.
Donor Spotlight: Thomson Reuters
In celebration of their Global Impact Day, Thomson Reuters partnered with CitizensNYC to gather volunteers to make a meaningful difference for New York City’s elderly community. Hosted by CitizensNYC and BEETS3, the event focused on packing care packages for low-income senior citizens, many of whom rely on these deliveries for essential living supplies.

Citizens Committee for New York City is proud to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Julie L. Shapiro. Julie has spent more than 25 years in the nonprofit sector, predominantly in New York City, working at the intersection of workforce development, youth development, and education. She is known for her strong track record of creative partnerships and collective impact work to advance educational and economic equity.

Andrea Reyes is a fair trade advocate, educator, community organizer, and small business owner who has turned her passion for fashion and sustainability into creating a significant impact. As Executive Director of NYC Fair Trade Coalition, she runs the Sustainable Fashion Community Center in East Harlem and has created a community of consumers, businesses, and students all working towards a more sustainable future.

Their initiatives tackle a diverse range of challenges, from promoting environmental sustainability and fostering community engagement, to advocating for restorative justice and improving educational access, to building community between youth and police. We’re grateful for the passion, dedication, and creativity of these young leaders!
