CitizensNYC June Volunteer Update!
This June, we were proud to host volunteers from Morgan Stanley, Google, and the BlackRock Black Professional Network, who rolled up their sleeves and showed their love for the city in a variety of ways.
East Village: A Morgan Stanley team helped members at the 6th Street and Ave B community garden install new wiring around the plants, gardening and weeding, and replacing block fencing. On a more technical front, another team from Morgan Stanley helped us to evaluate our software systems and improve the way we collect data from our grant applicants.
Jackson Heights: In honor of Pride month, a team from Google volunteered at the Love Wins Food Pantry, which initially started as a community-based, collective effort for the LGBTQ community of Queens, but has since grown into a larger movement to address food insecurity.
Harlem: Members of BlackRock’s Black Professionals Network volunteered and ran at the Juneteenth 5K Run, Walk & Roll, which was held in honor of George Floyd and in support of the Harlem Center.
It truly takes every one of us to help the city flourish and thrive, and CitizensNYC is proud to be the strong thread that connects our corporate partners and our grantee partners. We are also deeply grateful for our corporate partnerships, which allow us to invest in and support community leaders across all five boroughs of NYC.
